Andreas Wartak, PhD, awarded the 2019 SPIE-Franz Hillenkamp Postdoctoral Fellowship in Problem-Driven Biophotonics and Biomedical Optics

The award supports interdisciplinary problem-driven research and provides opportunities for translating new technologies into clinical practice for improving human health. Wartak will target an earlier and less invasive diagnosis of eosinophilic esophagitis, a poorly understood allergic inflammatory condition of the esophagus. If successful, this project will accelerate the translation of an optical coherence tomography-based instrument that will eliminate the need for sedated endoscopic biopsies.

Li Li, PhD Voted Best Slam Talk at the Wellman Center Retreat!

As part of the Wellman retreat, all of the labs at Wellman send a few representatives to give a "slam talk" on their projects in under 2 minutes. It is a difficult thing to be among dozens of speakers and make an impact on an audience enough to vote for you with only 2 minutes.  Congratulations Li!
